The Material Handler is responsible for the storage, retrieval, distribution of medical/surgical supplies, inventory, picking and order-filling of goods, other duties as assigned. Hours of work are days, evenings, nights and weekends as scheduled.
Secondary school graduate or equivalent
Good command of the English language (both verbal and written)
Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and inventory control
Recent related work experience in warehousing or distribution environment
Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills promoting good customer service
Proven organizational skills with an ability to work accurately with detail in a fast-paced environment
Evidence of positive team based skills.
Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SRH’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
Working knowledge of computerized inventory processes
Constant walking, climbing
Reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting (20 – 30 kg.)
Pulling and pushing carts (up to 120 kg)
Exposure to heat and cold, some dust
